Kremlin has no information about Iran's allegedly planned attack on Saudi Arabia

02 November 2022

The Kremlin does not know the source of speculation about Iran's alleged plans to attack Saudi Arabia, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.

Earlier, the media reported that the US and Saudi Arabia were exchanging information about a possible Iranian attack on the kingdom or other states in the region. Reporters asked the presidential spokesman whether the Kremlin considers such a development likely. " To be honest, we have no information at all and do not know where these speculations come from," Peskov said.

Reuters earlier reported, citing a National Security Council (NSC) spokesman, that the United States was concerned about threats to Saudi Arabia from Iran, was ready to respond if necessary, and was in constant contact through military and intelligence channels with the kingdom. The NSC spokesman made the statement after The Wall Street Journal reported that Saudi Arabia had shared intelligence data with the US about Iran's plans to attack targets in the kingdom.
