Kremlin: meeting between Putin and Erdogan scheduled for the near future

Russian and Turkish Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who are scheduled to meet soon, discussed the intensification of economic cooperation ahead of the talks, the Kremlin press service said on Monday.


"On the eve of a Russian-Turkish meeting scheduled for the near future, the leaders reviewed a set of issues of mutual interest," the statement said.


Thus, "special attention was paid to the tasks to further intensify economic cooperation, including measures to improve its contractual and legal framework, increase trade volumes and the use of national currencies in calculations, as well as the continuation of uninterrupted supplies of Russian energy resources."


The leaders also agreed on close cooperation in these spheres at the level of co-chairs of the bilateral inter-governmental commission and heads of relevant agencies.

 

 

Situation around Ukraine


Putin discussed on the phone with Erdogan the situation around Ukraine, including in the context of coordinating efforts to export grain to world markets.


"The exchange of views on the situation around Ukraine continued, including in the context of coordinating efforts to ensure the safety of navigation in the Black Sea and grain exports to world markets," the Kremlin press service said in a statement.


Syrian settlement


The heads of state also discussed the topic of the Syrian settlement with a focus on the importance of trilateral (Russia - Iran - Turkey) joint work within the framework of the Astana process.


"When discussing the topic of the Syrian settlement, the importance of trilateral - with the participation of Iranian partners - joint work within the framework of the Astana process was emphasized," the press service said.


At the end of the conversation, Putin warmly congratulated Erdogan and all Turkish people on the Eid al-Adha holiday, the Kremlin added.
