The Kremlin has not heard any statements by the executive authorities of Azerbaijan and Turkey about plans to create a unified Turkic army, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed on Thursday.

"We are not aware of any statements by the executive authorities, the president of Turkey or the president of Azerbaijan on this matter," the Kremlin spokesman told reporters when asked whether Ankara and Baku might be worried about creating a unified Turkic army.

"Of course, Azerbaijan and Turkey are developing bilateral relations, it is their sovereign business, it is important that this does not harm the atmosphere of stability and predictability in the region, we have regular contacts with Turkish and Azerbaijani partners in this regard," Peskov said.

Earlier, media reports referring to the Turkish Parliament Speaker Mustafa Shentop said that Turkey and Azerbaijan were allegedly negotiating over the creation of a joint Turkish army. Later, the media said that Shentop's words were mistranslated and there was no question of a joint army.
