22 October 2019

Russian representatives are in constant contact with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Turkey's operation in the North-East of the Arab Republic, Aide to the President Yuri Ushakov announced.

"Our representatives, including the Special Presidential Representative Lavrentiev, are in constant contact with Assad.  And constant contact is conducted through the Ministry of Defense... Undoubtedly, the situation in the context of the Turkish operation is thoroughly discussed between our representatives and Assad, " RIA Novosti quotes Ushakov.

Turkey continues its military operation in Syria since October 9. The aim of it is to create a security zone in the border areas so Syrian refugees who are currently in Turkey can return to the country.

The Syrian authorities, in turn, have repeatedly called the Turkish operation an occupation.
