Kremlin: Turkey will take all measures for the safety of Russian diplomats

The Kremlin is confident that Turkey will take all measures to ensure the safety of the Russian Embassy staff, Russian President's Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said this commenting on the situation with threats to the Russian Ambassador in Turkey. 


"As for the situation around our Ambassador, around the head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Turkey, we have no doubt that the Turkish side will take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the Russian Ambassador and all employees of Russian companies, Russian foreign institutions located in Turkey, in accordance with the Vienna Convention, as well as in accordance with the spirit of our bilateral relations", the Kremlin official said.


Peskov added that Russia and Turkey continue to have very close contacts at different levels - at the level of presidents, military departments, etc.


Earlier, Russian Ambassador to Turkey Alexey Yerkhov said that he started receiving threats due to the aggravation of the situation in the Syrian province of Idlib.
