Kyrgyz parliamentarians on Wednesday approved the candidacy of Jeenbek Kulubayev for the post of Foreign Minister proposed by President Sadyr Japarov.
Kulubayev's candidacy was supported by 71 out of 90 deputies.
On April 22, President Sadyr Zhaparov dismissed Ruslan Kazakbayev as Minister of Foreign Affairs. The former minister twice headed the foreign ministry. The first time - from 2010 to 2012, and the second time - from 2020 to 2022. The reasons for Kazakbayev's resignation were not provided.
On the same day, the president appointed Kulubayev, who had previously headed the foreign policy department of the administration of the head of state, as acting foreign minister.
In accordance with Kyrgyz law, the new minister is first approved by the national parliament, and then a presidential decree must be signed.
