Kyrgyzstan and Russia agree on creation of joint educational infrastructure

Minister of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Beishenaliev and Minister of Education of Russia Sergey Kravtsov during a meeting held on Monday in Bishkek signed a protocol on the establishment of a joint educational infrastructure in the country. This was reported by the Kyrgyz Ministry of Education and Science.


"The Minister of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan and the Minister of Education of Russia signed a protocol of negotiations on cooperation in the creation of joint educational infrastructure in Kyrgyzstan. Based on the protocol, the ministers approved a joint plan of priority actions," the report said.


The plan includes the development of a model project for the construction of several schools with Russian as the language of teaching in Kyrgyzstan. This agreement was reached during the visit of the President of the republic, Sadyr Zhaparov, to Moscow on February 24-25.


"Work will continue within the framework of the "Russian Teacher Abroad" project to further attract volunteers from Russia to schools in Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyzstan will pay for the travel (of teachers from Russia), housing, utilities, health insurance and pay a lump sum to settle in",  assured the Ministry of Education and Science.


According to him, during the meeting of the ministers, they also discussed "other formats of cooperation," including the organization of training courses for teachers of Kyrgyz schools in the science and physics and mathematics. As well as the Russian language "as a second language in the relevant universities in Russia, both remotely and in real mode with the issuance of certificates of Russian standard".


In addition, the Kyrgyz side suggested considering the possibility of implementing a pilot project "for the best graduates of pedagogical universities of Kyrgyzstan to undergo pedagogical practice at Russian schools," as well as building a national center for additional education in Bishkek and expressed an interest in "increasing the number of budgetary places for teaching specialties in Russian universities.
