Kyrgyzstan calls for greater interaction within CSTO, SCO, CIS

Kyrgyzstan considers it necessary to expand cooperation of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) with other international organizations including the SCO and the CIS in order to increase the effectiveness of counteracting new challenges and threats. This was stated by First Deputy Foreign Minister Aseyin Isayev during the consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers of the CSTO member states held on May 30 in Minsk, the press service of the Kyrgyz foreign ministry reported on Wednesday.


"In his speech, Isayev noted that the Republic of Kyrgyzstan has consistently advocated expanding cooperation between the CSTO and partner countries to increase the effectiveness of common efforts in countering challenges and threats, as well as with international organizations that share the organization's principles and approaches to maintaining global and regional security, primarily with the CIS and SCO," the statement said.


According to the press service, during the meeting the representative of Kyrgyzstan expressed interest in strengthening cooperation within the CSTO "to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of its activities."


According to the report, during the meeting in Minsk, the participants reviewed "the course of coordination of documents planned for consideration during the intersessional meeting of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers," which will be held in June in Minsk.


"There was a detailed exchange of views on regional security issues, as well as the improvement of the CSTO activities in view of new challenges and threats," the press service emphasizes.
