The authorities of Kyrgyzstan have identified areas in the country where nine schools with Russian language teaching will be built at the expense of the Russian side. Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Ulanbek Mambetakunov announced this on Monday in Bishkek at the meeting of the Committee on Social Policy of the Kyrgyz Parliament.
"Schools will be built in Bishkek, the regional center of Osh (the second-largest city in the republic - TASS) as well as in Chuy, Osh, Issyk-Kul, Jalal-Abad, Talas, Batken and Naryn regions," he said.
The average cost of building each school is about 450 million rubles, he said, and the construction of these facilities is scheduled to last about three years. It's not known yet which country's companies will run this project. According to the minister, it may be both Kyrgyz and Russian firms. Teaching in these educational institutions will be conducted according to Russian programs in the Russian language.
The agreement to build one school in each of the seven regions of the republic as well as in Bishkek and Osh was reached during the visit of the head of the Kyrgyz state Sadyr Zhaparov to Moscow in February 2021.
A month later, the parties signed a protocol on establishing joint educational infrastructure in the republic.
