Kyrgyzstan reports shooting at another section of its border with Tajikistan

On Wednesday, there was a shooting between the border guards of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan at another section of the border between the two countries. This was reported by the Border Guard Service (BGS) of the Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security. 


"On September 14, 2022, border guards of Tajikistan's SCNS opened fire on border guards of the Dostuk outpost of the Batken border detachment of Kyrgyzstan's BGS SCNS in the Kak-Sai area of Batken district. The Kyrgyz border guards returned fire," the statement said. 


According to the Kyrgyz side, on September 14, Tajik border guards also entered an unmarked section of the border near Bulak-Bashy area of Batken district of Batken region of Kyrgyzstan and "took up combat positions." In response to the Kyrgyz soldiers' demand to leave the area, the Tajik border guards opened fire, followed by shootings. 


Two Kyrgyz soldiers were wounded in the exchange of fire. 


Representatives of the sides are negotiating a ceasefire and a solution to the situation.
