Tajikistan, in spite of agreements reached on de-escalation of confrontation, continues to concentrate military equipment in the conflict area on the border with Kyrgyzstan. This was reported Friday by the press center of the Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security (SCNS).
"Despite efforts to cease fire, the Tajik side continues to pull heavy military equipment to the conflict area and uses all available arsenal of fire on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic, trying to seize our territory," the report said.
Settlement of the situation
Kyrgyzstan's special services are taking all necessary measures to resolve the situation on the border with Tajikistan, where armed clashes between servicemen of the two countries began Friday, the SCNS said.
"The SCNS reports that work is being done to regulate the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the border. All reports in the media and Internet resources that there is a shortage of weapons and ammunition and other logistical support in the Batken direction (Kyrgyzstan) are not true," the statement said.
As the press center assures, Kyrgyzstan has "enough forces and resources to ensure security and repel external aggression."
"The SCNS urges the public not to believe the fakes and calls on the Internet community, journalists and bloggers not to sow chaos and panic among the public," the statement reads.
According to the Kyrgyz side, on Friday morning, Kyrgyz border guard units in the areas of Eki Tash, Chyr Dobo, Kum Mazar, Kulundu, Maksat, Jany Zher and Orto Boz as well as Samarkandek outpost were shelled from Tajikistan. Bishkek reports 11 Kyrgyz soldiers wounded in shootings.
The situation on the border between the two countries escalated on September 14. According to the Kyrgyz side, on Wednesday, Tajik border guards entered the border section near Bulak-Bashy area of Batken district of Batken region of Kyrgyzstan and "took combat positions." In response to a demand to leave the territory, the Tajik border guards opened fire, followed by an exchange of fire. A few hours later armed clashes also occurred in the Kak-Sai and Pasky-Aryk areas of the Batken region. By evening, the exchange of fire had ceased. The Kyrgyz side reported two wounded servicemen and three wounded civilians.
