Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said he discussed in talks with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu preparations for the next Russian-Turkish summit at the ninth meeting of the High-Level Cooperation Council.

"We would like first of all to thank once again our friends, our hosts, for their hospitality, for a very useful meeting. This is the third ministerial meeting this year," Lavrov said on Wednesday at a press conference following talks with Cavusoglu.

"We discussed the schedule of upcoming political contacts at different levels between our governments and in other formats. Of course, we talked about how preparations for another summit meeting within the framework of the ninth meeting of the High-Level Cooperation Council are going," Lavrov said.

According to the minister, relations between Moscow and Ankara are in a "period of mature partnership." "They are based on pragmatism, on respect and consideration for each other's interests, on respect for the principles of good neighborliness. And the tone of such relations is set, of course, by the presidents. They communicate regularly. Because of pandemic restrictions, this communication now takes the form of telephone conversations. But this year alone they have spoken nine times on the most pressing issues of bilateral relations and international politics," Lavrov said
