Lavrov and Cavusoglu stressed the need to separate the opposition forces from terrorists

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu during a phone call initiated by the Turkish side.


The ministers discussed the Syrian peace process.


In particular, they considered the practical aspects of joint efforts to effectively fight the terrorist threat and ensure the de-escalation regime in the Idlib zone according to the Russian-Turkish memorandum of September 17, 2018.


Both sides reaffirmed their support for the Syrian Constitutional Committee in the context of intensifying the inclusive intra-Syrian dialogue and promoting settlement under the auspices of the UN and the guarantor countries of the Astana Process.
