Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Djibouti Foreign Minister Mahamoud Ali Youssouf discussed preparations for the second Russia-Africa summit, as well as the situation in the Horn of Africa. This was said in a statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry issued on Wednesday following the talks between the Foreign Ministers, which took place on June 8.
"Special attention was paid to the substantive aspects of the preparation and holding of the second Russia-Africa summit in 2022," the diplomatic office said.
The sides exchanged views on topical issues of the international and regional agenda, as well as discussed in detail the situation emerging in the region. "At the same time, the need to overcome the existing disagreements between the countries of the region exclusively by peaceful means, in full compliance with the norms of international law was stressed," the ministry added.
Moscow and Djibouti reiterated their intention to further develop bilateral dialogue in various fields, including the development of political, trade and economic, investment and humanitarian cooperation.
