Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian on Thursday during a telephone conversation outlined the mutual intention to resume consultations on the nuclear deal in Vienna as soon as possible, the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement.

"A mutual intention to resume consultations on the JCPOA (Joint comprehensive plan of action on the Iranian nuclear program - TASS) in Vienna as soon as possible was outlined," the statement said.

The ministers reiterated that restoring the nuclear deal in its original balanced configuration is the only right way to ensure the rights and interests of all parties involved.

"The sides "checked their notes" on the key issues of the bilateral agenda, which were discussed during the talks between the two ministers in Moscow on October 6, 2021," the Russian diplomatic office added.
