Lavrov and Malaysian Foreign Minister congratulate each other on 55 years of diplomatic relations

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Malaysian Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the Russian MFA said in a statement on Tuesday.


"The Russian foreign minister in his telegram, in particular, noted that our countries are linked by strong ties of friendship, traditions of respect and trust. The mood for further expansion and deepening of fruitful cooperation in the interests of both states, as well as security, stability and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region was confirmed," the ministry pointed out.


As noted in the diplomatic department, the anniversary is planned to coincide with the Day of Malaysia at the ASEAN Center at MGIMO of the Russian MFA, an exhibition of archival documents and photographs, other cultural and educational events. "Our two countries are actively cooperating in the international arena, including within the UN, regional integration associations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, jointly promoting the strategic partnership Russia - ASEAN," the statement said.
