Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita exchanged congratulatory telegrams to mark the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between their two countries.
"The foreign ministers of Russia and Morocco emphasized their mutual interest in further developing and deepening multifaceted, mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries," the statement of the Russian MFA reads.
It further highlighted that the ministers additionally reaffirmed "both nations' commitment to maintaining strong foreign policy collaboration, with the aim of promoting security and stability in North Africa, the Middle East, the Sahara-Sahel region, and the Mediterranean area."
Diplomatic ties between Russia and Morocco were initially established on September 1, 1958.
