Work on the project of the North-South international transport corridor is proceeding very intensively. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said this on Monday at a press conference following talks with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
"Specifically this elaboration is going on now very, very intensively. I think that in the very near future we will be able to tell representatives of the media how this process is progressing. I repeat: there is interest from all sides that this process depends on," said the foreign minister.
Lavrov noted that discussions on this issue have recently intensified. According to him, the North-South corridor will be beneficial not only for the project participants but also for the world economy.
"The project of the North-South international transport corridor is regularly discussed both at the level of presidents, at the level of heads of governments and through transport departments. And these discussions have recently become more lively, given the emergence of clear assessments of how effective this project could be not only for our countries, but also for Iran, which is planning to participate in it, and for the global economy. This is a significant benefit for all carriers between Asia and Europe, a significant saving, a benefit in all senses: both in terms of time and financial costs," said the Russian minister.
