Lavrov Asserts Russia's Exhaustion of Kind Gestures Toward the West

16 February

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov commented on the possibility of restoring relations with Western countries, highlighting Russian President Vladimir Putin's stance on the matter. Lavrov pointed out that Putin, in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, emphasized that Moscow has reached the limit of kind gestures towards the West, and the normalization of relations no longer hinges on Russia's actions.

"At the scientific and practical conference 'Euromaidan: Ukraine's lost decade,' the president also addressed this issue," - Lavrov reiterated. - "Relations will be restored someday. When that happens is not within our control. It's their problem. We've made numerous concessions and gestures of goodwill, as the president reminded us, and the limit of these gestures has already been reached."

Lavrov further emphasized the lack of reciprocal gestures from the West, despite Russia's efforts. "On their part, we have seen other gestures in response to our good deeds," he added. Lavrov recalled Putin's call for the West to acknowledge its mistakes and seek a mutually beneficial solution, emphasizing the need to resolve issues around Ukraine while fully considering Russian interests.
