President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev intend to continue regular contacts in 2023. It was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a meeting with Acting Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov.

'Our bilateral meeting today is important in terms of implementing the agreements reached between our presidents. They are in regular contact. This year will be no exception. There is no doubt about it,' he said.

Lavrov expressed his gratitude for support for the Russian proposal to hold another meeting of the Central Asian P5 and Russian Federation ministers simultaneously with the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers.

'I believe this will contribute to the implementation of the tasks set for us by the leaders of our six countries at their first summit in Astana in autumn 2022. Of course, these tasks cover consolidating security, economic cooperation, addressing environmental issues and many others,' the minister said.
