Lavrov briefs Arab ambassadors in Moscow on developments around Ukraine

On Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting with the heads of Arab diplomatic missions accredited in Moscow and the representation of the Arab League, during which he briefed the diplomats on the developments around Ukraine in the context of the SMO.


"The Russian foreign minister informed the Arab diplomats in detail about the developments around Ukraine in the context of Russia's special military operation," the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement.

 

 

According to the diplomatic office, the meeting participants reviewed a wide range of issues of Russian-Arab cooperation, which meets the fundamental interests of the peoples of Russia and the countries of the Middle East and North Africa, as well as the tasks of ensuring peace and security in the region.


"The parties also confirmed Moscow's intention to intensify ties with Arab countries in the political, trade and economic, investment and cultural spheres in both bilateral and multilateral formats, including within the framework of existing mechanisms of interaction along the lines of Russia - Arab League and Russia - GCC (Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf - TASS)," the ministry pointed out. - "Particular attention was paid to the problems of the Middle East settlement, promotion of a comprehensive settlement in Syria and the normalization of the situation in Libya and Yemen."
