"Let's call things by their proper names: no one allowed the Western minority to speak on behalf of the entire humanity. We have to behave ourselves and respect all members of the international community without exception," the minister said in an article for Russia in Global Affairs published Friday.
According to Lavrov, "Washington and the rest of the West subordinated to the US are applying their 'rules' whenever they need to justify illegitimate steps against those who are aligning their policies with international law and refusing to serve the selfish interests of the 'golden billion'. "They blacklist dissenters following the 'whoever is not with you is against you,' concept," he continued. - "Western colleagues have long become uncomfortable to negotiate in universal formats, such as the UN."
To provide an ideological basis for undermining multilateralism, the West, as the Russian foreign minister noted, the theme of united "democracies" opposing "autocracies" and creating other "clubs of the chosen ones" bypassing the UN has been put into circulation. According to the head of Russian diplomacy, such non-inclusive projects are designed to "undermine negotiations on relevant topics under the auspices of the World Organization and impose non-consensual concepts and solutions that benefit the collective West."
"Moreover, we are seeing attempts to contain the new world centers by illegitimate unilateral measures," Lavrov continued. - "These include blocking access to modern technology and financial services, forcing out of supply chains, confiscating property, destroying the critical infrastructure of competitors, and manipulating universally agreed norms and procedures."
These measures have led to the fragmentation of global trade, the collapse of market mechanisms, "the paralysis of the World Trade Organization and the ultimate transformation of the IMF into a tool for achieving the goals of the United States and its allies, including military objectives", stressed the head of the Russian foreign ministry.
