Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the benefits CIS countries derive from cooperation with Russia clearly outweigh the promises made by Western nations. His comments came following a CIS Foreign Ministers Council meeting.
“Our partners are guided by their national interests. While it’s understandable that some private companies and banks may fear secondary sanctions and the risks they carry, it’s equally clear that the real benefits Central Asian countries receive from trade, joint projects, and Russian investments far exceed the mostly empty promises offered by the West in exchange for supporting sanctions against Russia,” Lavrov told reporters.
