The Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov met with heads of foreign affairs agencies from more than 45 African countries during a working breakfast on the sidelines of the Russia - Africa Summit.
In his welcoming remarks, Lavrov noted that this historic meeting will open up a new page in the traditionally friendly Russian-African relations and make a significant contribution to strengthening the architecture of mutually beneficial ties, as well as determine the mechanisms for further advancement.
During the exchange of views, special attention was paid to the need to strengthen Russian-African cooperation in the political, trade, economic, humanitarian and security fields.
At the same time, the parties reaffirmed a general commitment to the fundamental principle of “African solutions to African problems” with broad constructive support from the international community.
