Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting with Secretary-General of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestinee Nayef Hawatmeh.
During the conversation, according to the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the parties exchanged views on the current situation in the Middle East region, with an emphasis on the problems of the Palestinian-Israeli settlement.
In particular, the task of restoring Palestinian national unity as soon as possible on the political platform of the Palestine Liberation Organization was discussed as a key condition for establishing a negotiation process with Israel.
The Russian side once again confirmed its support for the two-state principle of resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on a universally recognized international legal basis.
