Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a meeting with UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov.
The conversation focused on methods to resolve the Arab-Israeli conflict. The officials expressed support for the UN-approved two-state solution to the Palestinian problem, which provides for the establishment of an independent state of Palestine with the capital in East Jerusalem.
The parties confirmed the need for relaunching direct talks between the Israelis and the Palestinians.
