Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi discussed by telephone on Tuesday upcoming bilateral events at the highest and highest levels, the Russian MFA reports.
"The foreign ministers discussed a number of topical issues of Russian-Kazakh relations, including upcoming events at the highest and highest levels and the preparation of bilateral intergovernmental documents," the diplomatic office said.
In late January, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced that he would visit Russia in mid-February at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
According to Russian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Alexei Borodavkin, "now intensive preparations for the visit are underway, Russian and Kazakhstani ministries, agencies and other structures are in the process of agreeing on important agreements that will be consolidated at the level of our heads of state".
