Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday during separate telephone conversations with Azerbaijani and Armenian Foreign Ministers Ceyhun Bayramov and Zohrab Mnatsakanyan confirmed his readiness to provide a Moscow platform for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, including a trilateral meeting with them, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.

"Sergey Lavrov stressed that Russia will continue its mediation efforts both in its national capacity and together with other OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to create conditions for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by political and diplomatic means. The readiness to provide a Moscow platform for the organization of relevant contacts, including the next meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia, was confirmed," the diplomatic mission noted.

Lavrov also called for an immediate ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh and for the parties to return to negotiations as soon as possible. "Development of the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone was discussed. The Russian side expressed serious concern over the continuing large-scale hostilities. A call was made for an immediate ceasefire and de-escalation of tension, as well as the avoidance of provocative and belligerent rhetoric. Emphasis was placed on the need for the parties to return to the negotiating table as soon as possible," the message reads.
