Lavrov expresses gratitude to the Arab League for its decisions on the situation in Ukraine

Moscow expresses gratitude to the Arab League for its decisions on the situation in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday at a press conference following talks with the Arab League  contact group on Ukraine.


"We expressed our gratitude to the Arab League for the decisions it took in connection with and during the Ukrainian crisis, including the decisions of the ministerial meeting, the plenary meeting of the entire Arab League in the first half of March," he said.


Lavrov said that during talks with the League, Moscow explained the goals of the special operation in Ukraine, as well as spoke about the prospects for a settlement and efforts to achieve it.


Cooperation


Lavrov stressed that Russia also expressed its readiness to interact with the Arab League and inform it about how the situation is developing against the backdrop of the Ukrainian crisis.


Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation on February 24 in response to a request for help from the leaders of the Donbass republics.
