Lavrov has attended a working visit to Uzbekistan

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has attended a working visit to Tashkent. 

 

 

According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the main point of the program of the Head of the Russian Diplomacy in Uzbekistan was participating in the “Ministerial Segment of the XIth Review Meeting of the Parties to the Memorandum of Understanding in cooperation in the control of illegal production, trafficking, abuse of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors of May 4 1996 ".

 

 


Speaking at the event, Lavrov has highlighted the importance of a consolidated response to the threat of drugs, including its Afghan cut, and also has stated the necessity to enhance the exchange of operational information.

 

 


Special attention, as the Russian Foreign Minister has mentioned, is required by the problem of preventing the financing of terrorist activities at the expense of drug proceeds.

 

 

During his visit to Uzbekistan, Lavrov also met with the President of the Republic, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The sides have reviewed the most pressing issues of bilateral relations, checked their positions on international and regional issues, in particular, in the situation in the inter-Afghan settlement.
