Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov holds talks with Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in Moscow on Thursday, according to TASS. The meeting started at 12:19 p.m. Moscow time.
Opening the talks, Lavrov said Russia welcomed Saudi Arabia's interest in solving regional problems as well as problems on the global agenda.
"We welcome the recently observed increased interest of Saudi Arabia to take an active part in solving not only regional issues, but also those on the global agenda," he said.
The current talks between Lavrov and Al Saud will be the fifth bilateral meeting between the ministers since the latter took office as Saudi foreign minister. The foreign ministers have also met twice in multilateral formats – at the G20 foreign ministers' meetings in Indonesia in 2022 and in India in early March this year. The foreign ministers also keep in regular contact by telephone.
