Lavrov Hopes Israel Will Hear the Global Majority's Opinion on Gaza Situation

26 June

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed Moscow's hope that Israel will heed the overwhelming global majority's voice regarding the situation in Gaza. Lavrov made this statement at the 10th International Scientific and Expert Forum "Primakov Readings."

Lavrov shared details of his recent phone conversation with his Israeli counterpart, Israel Katz: "We had a very detailed and honest discussion." He emphasized, "I hope they will listen to the voice of the overwhelming majority of countries around the world." Lavrov pointed out that this majority criticizes Israel's actions, which, while claiming the need to destroy the Palestinian militant group Hamas, are leading to the destruction of Gaza, in violation of international humanitarian law.
