Russia expects that, prior to the upcoming elections in January, all political forces in Kyrgyzstan will draw proper conclusions from the October events and take responsibility for the country's fate, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told TASS.

"On January 10, 2021, early presidential elections will be held in Kyrgyzstan, and in the spring - another parliamentary election. We are sure that our Kyrgyz friends have drawn the necessary conclusions from the October events and all political forces will show responsibility for the fate of their country," he stressed.

On the night of October 6, there was mass unrest in Kyrgyzstan with representatives of the parties that didn't make it into parliament based on the voting results. The CEC annulled the election results. Speaker Dastanbek Djumabekov, Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov and President Sooronbai Jeenbekov resigned. Sadyr Japarov was elected as acting head of state and the new head of government. Early presidential elections in the country are scheduled for January 10, 2021.
