Lavrov informed Syrian Foreign Minister of the results of his trip to the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov informed Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Miqdad by phone on Tuesday about the results of his recent trip to the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.


"Lavrov briefed Miqdad on the results of his recent trip to the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, noting the strengthening in the Arab world of the principal attitude to restore the full participation of the Syrian Arab Republic in the Arab League," the diplomatic office said.


The sides also discussed the situation in Syria, including the preparation for the sixth meeting of the inter-Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva.


"The Russian side stressed the need for rhythmic and fruitful work to agree on constitutional reform. Russia's commitment to work together with Iran and Turkey in the framework of the Astana format to achieve the goals enshrined in UN Security Council Resolution 2254, including ensuring the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of the Syrian Arab Republic was confirmed," the statement reads. - "The parties stressed the determination to continue an uncompromising fight against terrorist groups in the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as against attempts of external forces to provoke separatist tendencies on its territory".


In addition, the Ministers discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation. The conversation took place at the request of the Syrian side.
