01 November 2021

The main task for Russia is to prevent the destabilization of its Central Asian allies after the Taliban (banned by the Russian Federation) came to power in Afghanistan, Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

"The main thing for us is their stability, because we do not have any borders with our Central Asian allies, and we have visa-free travel with almost all of them," he said. - "First of all, there is a need to prevent the destabilization of neighboring countries and the spillover of the terrorist and drug threat from Afghanistan, the need to suppress these threats within Afghanistan itself as well".
