The Arab countries have not joined the anti-Russian sanctions, despite pressure from the West. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said this on Wednesday at a press conference on the results of Russian diplomacy in 2022.
"None of the Arab countries have joined the sanctions, despite unprecedented and brutal pressure from the West. I would even say the cavalier and self-deprecating pressure that the West is exerting," Lavrov said.
"The Arabs are our old and loyal friends, we maintain regular contacts both in bilateral contacts and with the Arab League and the Gulf Cooperation Council," the minister stressed. - "Yesterday I held a regular meeting with all the ambassadors of the Arab League, and in May I visited its headquarters in Cairo. I see, first of all, an understanding of our position, that this is not at all about Ukraine, but precisely about the struggle for a new world order between those who believe that it should be completely subject to their rules - domination by the United States and their satellites, and those who want the world order to be democratic."
Lavrov once again noted that Western countries "demand democracy on every corner," yet recent studies say that during US elections, "dead people were elected, one congresswoman got twice as many votes as her precinct registered voters, and more." "They want the world to have rules where they dictate everything, rather than international law ensuring democracy, where every country is sovereignly equal," the minister said.
