The settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict can only be achieved through direct negotiations between the two sides, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a meeting with his Bahraini counterpart Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
"We are convinced that only direct dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians, negotiations aimed at achieving a balance of interests based on the decisions taken by the international community, can resolve this most long-standing conflict in the region," he stressed, in particular.
Russian Foreign Minister also criticized "attempts to revise the existing international legal framework for the Middle East settlement," referring to the statements of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that Washington no longer considers Israeli settlement activities in the West Bank a violation of international law.
