Lavrov plants Himalayan cedar in Islamabad

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov planted a Himalayan cedar, deodar, in Pakistan's Foreign Ministry garden before talks with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the TASS correspondent reports.


The Himalayan cedar is one of Pakistan's national symbols. Next to the tree of the Russian Foreign Minister are already growing cedars planted by Pakistani President Arif Alvi, the republic's Prime Minister Imran Khan and UN Secretary-General António Guterres.


Lavrov is in Islamabad on a working visit. In addition to talks with the Pakistani Foreign Minister, he will meet with the country's top political and military leaders.
