Russia is interested in continuing the fight against terrorism and extremist ideology, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday at a press conference following his visit to Saudi Arabia.
"Much was said about the need to continue and intensify the fight against terrorism, especially against extremist ideology and in this sense expressed a general positive assessment of the efforts to promote the dialogue of civilizations, interfaith dialogue, including within the Group of Strategic Vision, which was established quite a long time ago between Russia and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and this Group recently held its regular meeting in the capital of Tatarstan - Kazan. On the margins of this event there was also a celebration of the 1100 anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria," said the minister.
The previous meeting of the GSV was held in November 2021 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The event took place with the support and approval of the Saudi side. The participants of the meeting noted the high level of the event.
