The launch of the joint production of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik V in Uzbekistan will positively affect the epidemic situation in the country. This is stated in an article by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in a special issue of the Budget magazine for the 30th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence.
The foreign minister pointed out that bilateral ties in health, education and culture are gaining momentum. "I will especially note our constructive cooperation in the fight against coronavirus infection, including the accelerated registration of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in Uzbekistan. Under the current agreement, we have already sent over 200,000 two-component doses of the vaccine to the republic. An important step was the launch of joint production of the vaccine on Uzbek territory in August this year," Lavrov said. - "I am sure it will have a positive effect on the epidemiological situation in the country".
From January 3, 2020, to August 31, Uzbekistan reported 156,394 cases of infection with the coronavirus and 1,082 deaths, the World Health Organisation said.
