Russia is interested in providing assistance to Lebanon in resolving the problems accumulated in the country in recent years. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during a meeting with Suleiman Frangieh, leader of the Lebanese Christian Marada movement.
"We sincerely want to help our Lebanese friends in solving the problems that in recent years have distracted you in one way or another from your creative goals, the development of your state and the strengthening of its security," he said.
Lavrov stressed that Russia, working in the UN Security Council, invariably calls for preserving the principles on which modern statehood exists in Lebanon. "It is these approaches that we promote during regular contacts with representatives of the entire political spectrum of Lebanon," he added.
The minister also noted the important role of the Marada movement in the establishment of modern statehood in Lebanon. "We will be interested to hear your assessments and express our opinions on them, which are always dictated exclusively by the interests of helping our Lebanese friends," Lavrov pointed out.
