Russia is interested in further strengthening cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Nagorno-Karabakh, where the organization has long and actively worked, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday at a meeting with ICRC President Peter Maurer.

"We now have an additional field for cooperation, I mean Nagorno-Karabakh. A week ago a trilateral joint statement was signed by the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia," Lavrov said. - "A Russian peacekeeping contingent is being deployed there, and we know how active and long the International Committee of the Red Cross has been working in this region. We are interested in strengthening our cooperation, which is already actively developing".

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry reminded that Russia and the ICRC had many regions where close cooperation traditionally takes place. "Our contacts are regular, and there is something to work on together, because, unfortunately, the number of humanitarian crises and conflicts in the world is not decreasing," the Minister added.
