25 February 2020

Moscow will continue to help resolve the situation in Afghanistan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told a press conference following talks with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin.

"We paid great attention to the situation in Afghanistan and expressed concern about the presence of militants of international terrorist organizations in the Northern Afghan provinces, in fact, on the border with Tajikistan and our other Central Asian partners," the Russian Foreign Minister said.

In addition, Lavrov said that Russia and Tajikistan confirmed their readiness to contribute to the peace process in the Islamic Republic, including using the Moscow format, the capabilities of the CSTO and the SCO-Afghanistan contact group.
