The Russian diplomacy will continue to promote the values of universal human solidarity at various international venues and facilitate the development of a broad inter-civilizational dialogue and inter-confessional partnership. This was stated in the welcoming address of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to the participants of the conference "Orthodoxy and Islam – Inter-Confessional Dialogue in Achieving Global Peace." The text of the message was read on Tuesday by Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
"We are convinced: universal solidarity must be based on enduring traditional values common to the main confessions and cultures. Russian diplomacy will continue to promote this topic at various international platforms and facilitate the building up of a broad inter-civilization dialogue and inter-confessional partnership," he said.
According to Lavrov, Russia consistently assumes that ensuring peaceful development, well-being, and prosperity of all mankind is impossible without establishing a mutually respectful dialogue of world religions and civilizations. "We see this as an important component in the ongoing formation of a more equitable world architecture, which implies respect for the identity of the peoples of the world and their right to determine their own destiny," said the foreign minister.
Bogdanov added on his own behalf that the foreign ministry will continue to actively participate in the activities of non-governmental organizations in this area. "We will always be around, we will always be together, we will promote our goals and objectives together," said the diplomat.
