Russian diplomacy will continue to promote a unifying agenda in international relations, to work to strengthen global stability and promote the political settlement of conflicts. This is stated in a message by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to the participants of the United Russia international interparty conference, "Current Issues of International Security in a Geopolitically Unstable World." The text of the message was read out on Tuesday by Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister.
Lavrov emphasized that Moscow firmly believes that a world with real freedom of political and socioeconomic models offers many more opportunities for the dynamic development and prosperity of peoples. "At the same time, the most important component of success is the observance by all participants in international life of the principles of the UN Charter, including the main one - the principle of the sovereign equality of states. Based on this understanding, Russian diplomacy will continue to promote a unifying agenda in international relations, work to strengthen global stability and promote the political settlement of global conflicts," the Russian foreign minister said in his greeting.
"Together with like-minded people, including our African friends, we will continue to seek non-discriminatory application of universally recognized norms of international law. Russia consistently advocates strengthening the position of the African region in the emerging multipolar architecture and supports the initiatives put forward by Africans in the international arena," Lavrov said.
He stated that the situation in the world remains extremely tense. "The main reason is the persistent attempts of the Western alliance led by the United States to prevent the final loss of its global leadership in the hope of continuing to solve the problems of its own development at the expense of other members of the international community. This is exactly what the neocolonial concept of the rule-based world order promoted by the Americans and their allies is aimed at," emphasizes the Russian foreign minister.
He noted that such selfish approach fundamentally contradicts the aspirations of the overwhelming majority of countries interested in forming a more just, polycentric world order and a true democratization of international relations.
