Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in a conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu expressed satisfaction with the decision of the Turkish court to release the journalists of the Russian TV channel NTV detained in Istanbul, the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry following a telephone conversation between the ministers reads.
"The Russian side expressed satisfaction with the decision of the Turkish court to release from custody Russian journalists of NTV TV company, detained in Turkey on December 3 this year," the diplomatic office noted.
The sides considered a number of other issues on the bilateral and international agenda, including the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement. Lavrov and Cavusoglu stressed "the need to continue coordinating the efforts of the two countries to strengthen the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh within the framework of the joint monitoring center and further stabilization of the situation in Transcaucasia".
The ministers stressed the importance of resuming Russian-Turkish contacts at a high level as the pace of coronavirus spreading slowed down, and discussed the settlement of the intra-Ukrainian crisis. "They confirmed the importance of observing the agreements reached by the parties to the conflict, inadmissibility of provocative actions that may lead to aggravation of the situation in the region", the statement concludes.
