Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Russian President Vladimir Putin expects to meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani.
"First of all, I would like to convey warm greetings and best wishes from Vladimir Putin," Lavrov said Monday at a meeting with the Iraqi prime minister in Baghdad. "Recalling your phone conversation, [Putin] is counting on all our contacts to help prepare for your meeting with him," he said.
Last November, the Russian president held a telephone conversation with the Iraqi prime minister. The Russian leader, as reported by the Kremlin press service, stressed that attempts to introduce a ceiling on oil prices from Russia could lead to dire consequences. In addition, Putin and al-Sudani gave a positive assessment of the joint work with the participation of Russia and Iraq in the framework of OPEC +, which allows to ensure the stability of the global oil market.
