The renewed foreign policy concept of the Russian Federation will outline the need to stop the West's international dominance, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
"Our updated foreign policy concept will call for the need to end the West’s monopoly on shaping the framework of international life, which should henceforth be determined not on its selfish interests, but on a fair, universal balance of interests, as required by the UN Charter, which enshrines the principle of sovereign equality of all states," he said Wednesday at a government hour at the State Duma.
Lavrov added that the West is "obsessed" with its desire for a unipolar world order and "grossly violates" the principle of the sovereign equality of countries. "The United States and its allies have been maniacally obsessed with reviving the neocolonial, unipolar world order, preventing the objective process of forming and elevating new world centers," the minister said. He referred to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s speech on September 30 as he said this was in further pursuit of "collecting tribute from humanity."
