The trade turnover between Russia and Azerbaijan has exceeded $3 billion this year and may reach a record $4 billion by the end of the year, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference on Monday following talks with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
"Russia is one of Azerbaijan's leading trade partners. This year was already the 20th meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation. During 10 months of the current year the trade turnover has grown impressively and exceeded $3 billion, and we expect a record $4 billion in the volume of our trade this year," he said.
Lavrov noted that Russian economic operators are also ready "to participate in the most active way in joint projects with their Azerbaijani colleagues, including in the post-conflict rehabilitation of Azerbaijani territory." "A number of major projects are on the agenda, including such important and notable ones as production of GAZ trucks, development of Russian Helicopters service center and a number of others," the minister pointed out.
