Lavrov to address the Middle East Conference of the Valdai Club on March 31

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will speak on March 31 at a special session "Russia in the Middle East" at the Middle East Conference, organized by the Valdai Discussion Club together with the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said this at a briefing on Friday.

 

"The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry will outline the principal approaches of domestic diplomacy on the current Middle East issues with a focus on the situation in Syria, Libya and the Arab-Israeli settlement," she said. - " It will also confirm the need for a political resolution of the ongoing conflicts in the region, unswerving compliance with the relevant norms of international law, and respect for the principles of sovereignty and independence, territorial integrity of states and non-interference in their internal affairs".

 

The conference will be held on March 30-31 at the new venue of the Valdai Club in Moscow. The theme of this year's session is "The Middle East in Search for Lost Awakening".
